More About Broken Arrow
Broken Arrow is located in northeastern Oklahoma, primarily in Tulsa County but reaching into parts of Wagoner County as well. It’s a suburb of Tulsa, but it’s also a metropolitan area that could stand on its own. With roughly 100,000 people calling it home, Broken Arrow is noted for good schools, low crime, and excellent transportation access to surrounding areas.
The city was originally named for a Creek community, and it was settled by Creek Indians who had been forced to relocate from Alabama to Oklahoma along the Trail of Tears. It was originally an agricultural community, but it’s current economy is diverse.
Broken Arrow has many unique attractions, and the quaint Rose District downtown has a variety of specialty shops. Residents enjoy raising their families and working in the hometown atmosphere where the excellent quality of life is reflected in education, recreation, and in area churches. Some local points of interest include Blue Bell Creameries, Ray C. Harrell Nature Center, Bass Pro Shops, Stinchcomb Mansion, and the Broken Arrow Performing Arts Center.
Broken Arrow was listed as #66 and #69 in Money Magazine’s 2006 & 2012 list of the 100 best places to live.
