“TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Tuesday morning, March 24th, a crowd of veterans, family and friends met on an empty lot in Tahlequah to support retired Army Specialist Aaron Estes. Estes broke ground during the ceremony on a customized adapted home, which he said should be complete by later this year. The home is being made possible by Helping A Hero, a Houston based nonprofit, along with Parker Built Homes. Estes is one of more than 100 veterans awarded a home by Helping A Hero in 22 states since 2006.”
We were so privileged to be able to help build this man a home. He was more than just a veteran to us, he is now our friend. There is nothing more satisfying than knowing that he and his family will have a beautiful and safe place to live. Estes also has an amazing story. “I did nothing special, just did my job like everybody else does,” Estes said. “You have a job to do, you go to work and you do your job. You don’t think anything special about it.”
